Patriotic Contests

The Ladies Auxiliary is pleased to announce the winners in two of its patriotic contests for young people.

Essay Contest
Sixteen Hawthorne Brook Middle School fifth-grade students entered the Auxiliary's "Why I'm Glad To Be an American" essay contest. Nick Bagley will receive $25 for his essay placing first in the competition. The $15 second-place award will be presented to Bailey Breen and the $10 third-place award will be given to Anna Pothier.

Art Contest
Four entries were received in the  Auxiliary's Poster Contest for students in third and fourth grade with the same theme. The poster submitted by Edward McCarthy was selected as the first-place winner and he will receive $15. The $10 second-place award will be presented to Deanna Capone, while the $5 third-place award will be given to Cali Hills. All the poster contest entries came from students who attend the Spaulding Memorial Elementary School.

Nick Bagley's essay and Edward McCarthy's poster have been entered into competition at the Department of Massachusetts at Ladies Auxiliary VFW level of the contests.

The Ladies Auxiliary will honor these six local winners at a special open house and awards ceremony to be held in the Townsend VFW Function Hall toward the end of the school year.
